- Melghat tour part-1

A long serpentine  (snake melghat) animal is a snake. Though our hearts start to throb at the sight of snake, we are always curious about its pristine beauty and it's radiating skin. Maybe Hollywood, Bollywood, or local film industry; all are enticed magical spell of myths, folklores, superstitions of snake. But when this serpentine snake coiled into the human residence, lot of termoil is provoked into the area. In this chaos snake-friends run for help.

When we were on Melghat (snake melghat)  study tour, met two such idiosyncratic snake friends: Nilesh Wankhade and Vilas Salame. It was very thrilling experience, told by Nilesh, of three cobras made me shiver down the spine. Then I realised how these snake-friends are essential to protect the snakes which are important part of our ecosystem. But today this snake was making people Rock and Roll with fear and excitement. But Ujjainkar family and people around their home understood the seriousness of the situation and called Nilesh Wankhade. Understanding gravity, Nilesh reached there immediately and caught the cobra skillfully.

But the real amusement (snake melghat)  is here ahead. Seizing snake is not a child's play. Tackling the matter very delicately Nilesh caught the cobra at near about 6 o'clock. He went back to his home, took dinner and was about to lie when, his phone rang. There was a call that another cobra at RFO office is found... Nilesh's eyes widened after listening to this news of second Cobra's appearance within a time of three hours. He rushed there and with the proper care and patience took cobra at his disposal. It was 10:30 pm, he was totally tired and wanted rest. But his herculean task of arresting Cobra was not yet over, since he had third call. He reached there along with his companions and employed his special knack to grab third cobra. Whenever the snake enters into the residential area people are prone to kill them out of fear and forget the snake is an assest of nature and should be protected. Though the people from Melghat fear snakes they don't kill them since they understand the value of natural wealth. So they call Nilesh Wankhade to rscue snakes & relieve them into their natural dwelling. Rural people are more concerned about snakes than literate urbans.
Harisal of Melghat
Those were the rainy (snake melghat) days. It was a time about four noon. Young boys and the women were gone to the farm to help the elders. Only children and the old people were at home. Besides it being dusk the cloudy weather has enhanced the darkness. Cattle was returning home with a sounding of bells hung at their necks. The chirping birds were returning to their nest. In this fuzzy and misty shade the cobra encroached the house of Tarachand Ujjainkar. In normal course a snake charmer hypnotizes a snake to roll on and around, But today this snake was making people Rock and Roll with fear and excitement. But Ujjainkar family and people around their home understood the seriousness of the situation and called Nilesh Wankhade. Understanding gravity, Nilesh reached there immediately and caught the cobra skillfully.

He reached there along with his companions Vilas Salame and employed his special knack to grab third cobra. This sensational story scared me to tremble. 14 November 2021 was a special & exclusive day in the life of Nilesh Wankhade. To grab three cobras in a day was the world record. So even the world's renowned newspapers and media took the cognizance of Nilesh and Vilas performance.
Nilesh and Vilas, with the help of forest (snake melghat) officers, released three cobras in Matakul Campus Forest area on Sunday 15th November in the morning. This emancipating event was more electrifying, since all three cobras, instead of going to the different directions, climbed on the same tree. All present there, were wonderstruck with the scene. For 15 minutes these three cobras were being captured in camera with different poses. It was noted that there had been one female Cobra and two male cobras. These two cobras were trying to win the female's love. European digital Daily Mail newspaper had interviewed Nilesh and Vilas for their valour & skill, since it was rarest of rare event in the world. Though a single drop of poison could kill Nilesh and Vilas, they ventured this poisonous battle for the safety of human being and prosperity of the natural wealth.
